The Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi toasted to the most-recent recipient of the fraternity’s Career Achievement Award, Julie Stackhouse, a Drake University Graduate. (see newsletter below)
The toast and other socialization happened last week during the chapter’s monthly happy hour, held in August at Twisted Vine Brewery. Many brothers were impressed with the beer selection and the overall feel of the tap-room (located in the same building that once housed the Boom Boom Room and more recently a Walnut Creek Church location). Several brothers were talking about fall plans and there was a general feeling that Summer was coming to a close. Many collegiate chapters will hold there first meetings of the semester within the next couple of weeks as classes resume.

A group of brothers celebrated a day of perfect weather in Central Iowa on Saturday, August 13 by boating on Saylorville Lake.
The Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi organized a social event on a pontoon boat rented from the Saylorville Marina. The afternoon consisted of cruising, swimming, and enjoying the day. Brothers motored the boat all around the reservoir north of Des Moines, including near the dam and the mile-long bridge.
Even though the anchor was a little too small and the motor could not power the boat faster than 12 miles per hour, much enjoyment was had out on the water. After 4 hours of boating, brothers traveled into Polk City to grab a bite to eat at the Waters Edge Bar and Grill.
And more enjoyment will be had this week at the monthly happy hour. Check the calendar page and Facebook for information on the social gathering Thursday, August 18 at Twisted Vine Brewery’s new location in West Des Moines.
