Very concerning to this weblog was the letter from the Fraternity’s Executive Director on page 38 regarding the protection of Delta Sigma Pi trademarks.
“The Board of Directors, in consideration of protecting our trademarks, recently updated policy so that only vendors officially licensed by the Fraternity (or through its agents) have the right to produce merchandise using the the Delta Sigma Pi name, letters, or insignia.” writes Bill Schilling.
There are new rules relating to products including apparel, glassware, publications, and web pages.
More research will be done to ensure this web page complies with all new rules relating to the fraternity’s trademarked material.

Most everyone was in agreement that the Flying Moose was a pretty sweet bar. There were good deals and frozen pizza that was tasty (but make sure the cheese doesn’t fall off your slice). Members in attendance discussed holiday gift ideas, and proved it’s a small world since multiple people realized they had mutual friends or some other connection.
Coming up in December is the annual holiday party (ugly Christmas sweater theme as usual) so mark your calendars for 12/13.

Interesting tidbits from the Des Moines City Source Newsletter below:
It’s all about the games for the rest of the month. Join the Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi for its monthly happy happy hour Tuesday, March 18. Starting around 5:30 pm we will be at Up-Down (Des Moines’s original arcade bar). Play some games and have a few beverages and laughs with the Deltasig alums around the metro. Up-Down is located at 500 E. Locust in the East Village neighborhood of Des Moines. It is in the basement of the building in the space formerly occupied by “The Underground”. This will be an excellent event to get “up” out of your cubicle and get “down” with some brothers.
Then get ready for our Des Moines Buccaneers Hockey night that the Drake Chapter invited us to. It is taking place Saturday, March 29. Look for details on Facebook and contact Jillian for details.

Those present heard about the jewelry business as well as what is now trending. Many useful tips were picked up and sure to be used next time the brothers in attendance are shopping for jewelry.

Central Iowa Alums of Delta Sigma Pi were invited to the Drake Campus Tuesday night to attend a professional mixer. The Alpha Iota and Mu Psi chapters combined forces to plan and execute an excellent night of networking and general conversation.
Most of the attendees were Drake Deltasigs, but there were a handful of collegiates who travelled from Ames, 6 Des Moines – Central Iowa alums, several professionals not affiliated with Delta Sigma Pi, and a couple of recruiters from Principal Financial Group.
Black & Blue
Only some people got the memo that the colors of the night were black and blue.
Besides networking and enjoying some refreshments and snacks, attendees could check out informational cards placed on every table featuring advice on LinkedIn, etc.
After the event, a few alums and some of the Iowa State collegiates continued the networking and merriment at Jethro’s near campus.
Thank you Drake and Iowa State for a great night!
