Very concerning to this weblog was the letter from the Fraternity’s Executive Director on page 38 regarding the protection of Delta Sigma Pi trademarks.
“The Board of Directors, in consideration of protecting our trademarks, recently updated policy so that only vendors officially licensed by the Fraternity (or through its agents) have the right to produce merchandise using the the Delta Sigma Pi name, letters, or insignia.” writes Bill Schilling.
There are new rules relating to products including apparel, glassware, publications, and web pages.
More research will be done to ensure this web page complies with all new rules relating to the fraternity’s trademarked material.

The Drake chapter’s alumni picnic Saturday, April 29
The Mu Psi Chapter at Iowa State celebrated its birthday Monday night by hosting an alumni panel. 6 Brothers from the Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter participated in the panel, interacted with the Cyclone students, and enjoyed 3 different varieties of birthday cake as part of the celebration.

The Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi has scheduled its annual Ugly Sweater – themed Holiday Party for the night of Saturday, December 12. Keeping with tradition, this fun, holiday gathering will be held at the High Life Lounge in Downtown Des Moines. Look for more info on the exact start-time of the party. Wear your ugly Christmas sweater (or not) and join the local alumni for socialization and year-end merriment. A pre-party dinner / Hors d’oeuvres mixer is in the planning process, so stayed tuned for info on that part of the evening as well.

The November 2015 issue of The Deltasig has been published. It features a full Congress recap, a list of all 2014-2015 award winners, the Fraternity and Foundation annual reports, and an article by Adam Carroll.

The 2015-2016 officers of this alumni chapter are working to put together a strategic plan so Des Moines can one day be added to these ranks.
The July happy hour was last week at Bar Louie. It was packed. It was crazy. It was a fun time for the 6 brothers in attendance.

The city of Des Moines has received some recent buzz over a couple of accolades.
First, Des Moines was noted in a Fortune video as having the #1 up-and-coming downtown.
Then, Forbes ranked Des Moines #2 as the best place for business and careers.

The newly-launched site crated by the Des Moines Partnerhsip features information on the city catogorized by industry; wages and income; workforce; population demographics; social; and other, which includes patents, imports and exports and agricultural production. This site is now a part of the “Links” page of this weblog.
The Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi held its monthly happy hour on Tuesday 11/19 at the Yankee Clipper in Ankeny, Iowa. Attendance was lower than average, but the tacos were much larger than average.
The tacos were tasty and extra special when you used the taco sauce to draw a smiley face. Good conversation was had about a few of the exciting events coming up yet in 2012 as well as getting a game plan together to kick off 2013. One thing that was discussed and will most likely happen is a year-end survey, so stay tuned for that.
Friday, November 22 is the alumni chapter excursion to Wells Fargo Arena for an Iowa Wild Hockey game. Check Facebook and the calendar section of the weblog for details when they get posted.
The Halsey section of the weblog has all the important Halsey information. We are going to accommodate everyone who registers and wants to play either volley ball or basketball. Contact (alumni chapter president) Laura after you’ve registered so we can keep everybody in the loop. One deadline fast approaching is that for the cheapest registration. After 11/30 prices go up, so be sure to register before the month of November comes to a close!
The Deltasig Magazine
The November 2013 edition of The Deltasig has been published. It features a great recap of GCC, Board notes, information on the Leadership Foundation, and some news from around the country. One thing to look for is the picture on page 22 from the June 2013 TCAC Pig Roast (3 Des Moines brothers travelled to the Twin Cities for the event).
