Mark your calendars for the April happy hour with the Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi. The casual, social gathering will be held Thursday, April 19 at Wellman’s Pub & Rooftop (AKA Wellman’s West) in West Des Moines. Brothers and alumni will begin to gather around 5:30 pm (most likely on the ground floor) of this local favorite at 597 Market St, West Des Moines, IA 50266.
Only a few days after the April happy hour will be National Alumni Day (April 25). Link to website here.
National Alumni Day was just one of many interesting features in the March 2018 issue of “The Deltasig”.
Read it online here.
One article features an alumni who has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in every state in the nation. The article even mentions the biggest popcorn ball from right here in Iowa (page 14). Volunteering was a prominent theme in the March magazine.
There are a couple pictures of TCAC in the March issue (page 35 and 36) and a picture from Lincoln/Greater Nebraska (page 36).
And showcasing past LEAD Schools, the above picture was seen on page 8.
Last week the Des Moines – Central Iowa Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi held its monthly happy hour. For many brothers it was their first time visiting the Urbandale location of Taco Hangover.
Many of the 7 alumni and 5 collegiate brothers in attendance ate tacos, but no one received a hangover from this evening social held November 16. There was some discussion about a community service initiative the chapter will be participating in. But mostly it was a fun time exchanging laughs and stories of working life (a life the collegiates are anxious to enter and the alumni are wishing they could transport out of…and go back to their college days).
Look for more details soon about the December holiday party.

Very concerning to this weblog was the letter from the Fraternity’s Executive Director on page 38 regarding the protection of Delta Sigma Pi trademarks.
“The Board of Directors, in consideration of protecting our trademarks, recently updated policy so that only vendors officially licensed by the Fraternity (or through its agents) have the right to produce merchandise using the the Delta Sigma Pi name, letters, or insignia.” writes Bill Schilling.
There are new rules relating to products including apparel, glassware, publications, and web pages.
More research will be done to ensure this web page complies with all new rules relating to the fraternity’s trademarked material.
